The paddle steamer Demerara was the second-biggest ship in the world when she was launched in Bristol in 1851. Sadly, she went aground and was very badly damaged as she was towed down the river Avon on her first voyage. She was eventually brought back to the Harbour and converted into a sailing vessel.
